About Sofia
The inadvertent expatriate blogger behind Timber Glass Meadow

Hello, I'm Sofia
A project manager and a parent, I’m an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of our long-range plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a work opportunity and quickly grew into something far bigger.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and shifted expectations. Daily tasks felt more complex than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, habits took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began laying the foundations for something steady.
Why I Built Timber Glass Meadow
Most online resources were either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a real, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Represents (And What It Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical knowledge from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Official tourism authority material
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I'll continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
